The Domaine Saint-Ange, through the ages

In Draguignan, the Domaine Saint-Ange bears witness to a centuries-old history that dates back to the 18th century, to which its traditional cellar and oven still bear witness. The 1970s marked a major transformation under the impetus of a passionate architect, who designed much of today's estate, from its luminous workshop to its lush greenhouse, and planted the vines and olive trees. In 2022, a new era begins with an ambitious restoration project, promising to bring this place steeped in history back to life.

18th century, the first traces of Domaine Saint-Ange

The roots of Domaine Saint-Ange go back deep into the 18th century, an era of which the estate still bears precious witness. Among them, the old vaulted cellar, where the red wines continue to mature in barrels, evokes a winegrowing tradition rooted in time. Not far away, the ancestral bread oven is brought back into service every year, reviving the conviviality of old-fashioned gestures and the pleasure of sharing. A stone building, carefully restored and converted into a gîte, also stands as a vestige of this period, testifying to the solidity and timeless charm of Provencal construction.

The 70s, the arrival of modernity at the estate

In the 1970s, the estate was bought by an architect from Nice who came to retire here.

He built most of the buildings that still exist today. An avid painter, he created a large room with bay windows overlooking the olive trees, where he could paint in complete serenity. His frescoes can still be seen on some of the bastide's walls.

He also built a 240 m² greenhouse for his wife, a lover of beautiful plants and orchids. The estate was self-sufficient, with chickens, a pig and rabbits, all of which still exist today. It was at this time that most of the olive trees and vines were planted.

Since then, several owners have succeeded one another, leaving the property in its original state.

2022, the revival of Domaine Saint-Ange

It was in 2022 that Jean-Philippe Victor acquired Domaine Saint-Ange after selling his agricultural property (Château Saint-Pierre in Les Arcs-sur-Argens). Destined to retire, he visited the property and fell in love with it.

So he decided to revive the farm. To do so, he undertook a major renovation project, including :

  • restoring the buildings and bringing them up to standard;
  • restoring the vineyard and olive grove;
  • restoring and beautifying the surrounding area.

In 2023, Jean-Philippe Victor will use his experience to revive Domaine Saint Ange, uniting heritage, prestigious Provence wines and refined art de vivre. His vision is to create an exceptional place, where every detail is restored or redesigned to build an estate for the future.

More than a vineyard, Domaine Saint Ange aims to become a destination for lovers of authenticity and exceptional moments, embodying simple, living luxury.
